Throughout my career, I have learned that people make all the difference. It’s people that get things done and it’s people that put in the hard graft to make what seems impossible happen.

Here at Sand Dams Worldwide, this simple statement rings true. We have a long list of wonderful people who pull together to help get clean water close to those who need it most.

The dedicated team in our London based office keep the organisation running smoothly. Fundraising, reporting what we do, planning new programmes, and supporting in-country partners with programme delivery are all jobs the team deliver with enthusiasm. So much of what we achieve is down to the hard work of this small group of talented folk.

The sand dams we invest in are built by local people and this means they have a stake in their future. Then there are the volunteers from all over the world who come to work alongside local communities sharing the heavy work to construct sand dams. They build not only dams but friendships that can last forever. Our next volunteer expedition is planned for February 2020 so do get in touch if you would like to join the next hard working team heading to Africa to help change the lives of some of the children, women and men who do not have access to a dependable supply of clean water.

"People are the magic ingredient in everything we do. Without them, we would not have been able to bring clean water to over a million men, women, and children."

Our supporters help raise vital funds so we can keep investing in our work. Based all over the country, they champion the work of Sand Dams Worldwide at every opportunity, giving talks to groups who may be interested in what we do and linking us up to those who may be able to give time, money and expertise to support the creation of more sand dams.

And we must not forget the volunteers that come to work in our London office alongside the full-time team. They help with the important work that goes on behind the scenes to keep the organisation on track. In return for giving a little of their time, our volunteers get the chance to see first hand how a charity works. They know that every job however small helps to build another sand dam getting water to those who need it most. We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers so follow this link if you are interested in working alongside the team in London.

People are the magic ingredient in everything we do. Without them, we would not have been able to bring clean water to over a million men, women, and children. As John Lennon put it, ‘Power to the People’.

Please donate what you can to help rural communities transform their own lives with sand dams and climate-smart farming, and ensure no one gets left behind
