Corporate support

Get your business involved

Sand Dams Worldwide has a history of successful relationships with corporate partners. Together, we want to see the best of business used to support poverty alleviation for the world’s poorest and most marginalised people.

Barclays Isle of Man on a sand dam expedition in Kenya

The Barclays Isle of Man team spent two weeks in September 2018 supporting a community in southeast Kenya to build a sand dam. If you'd like to do the same with your company, please inquire at [email protected]

Dryland environments are critically important to the production of food and the livelihoods of millions of people around the world. The UN reports that by 2030, the world will need at least 50% more food, 45% more energy, and 30% more water.

To meet that demand, global food production will need to increase by 70% and there will need to be an increased investment in rainwater harvesting technologies, such as sand dams. With 44% of global food production taking place in the world’s drylands, our work in partnership with rural communities (who have to tackle the issue of drought every year) has never been more important.

We know that the cost of prevention is a fraction of the cost of aid and relief. Sand Dams Worldwide invests in the application of sand dam technology and the best of local knowledge in order to build resilience to expected natural hazards and empower communities to break free from the vicious circle of disaster and emergency aid. Together, we are building risk resilience and creating economic opportunities for people in drylands.

But, with drylands representing 40% of the Earth’s surface and supporting 74% of the world’s poorest people, it’s a big task, and we can’t do it alone.

As a corporate partner, you can help us to achieve our vision that sand dams will transform millions of lives. By supporting communities to build sand dams, we can reverse the trend for desertification, land degradation and drought and create opportunities for people to transcend poverty in dignity.

Why support Sand Dams Worldwide?

Sand dams are the most cost-effective method of rainwater harvesting in drylands. So, every pound invested has a huge return for the people who need it most. We’re a charity with a business heart. We believe that every pound should work hard to achieve the maximum impact and we work equally hard to make sure that it does.

With Sand Dams Worldwide, you’ll be supporting a charity that works hard to make the most of your investment and has been widely recognised for our sustainable impact and achievements.

As a small charity we can offer a personal relationship for all of our corporate partners – you’ll be able to clearly see the real difference your support is making. There are many ways that your company could get involved, from sharing business skills, to funding a project. You could even join us on an expedition if you’re feeling adventurous!

Email us to discuss how you could get involved.
