Poppy Weston, one of our long-time supporters, completed a wonderful pilgrimage in solidarity with the people we support, who often have to walk many kilometres every day to collect water.

Last summer, Poppy walked 70 miles from York Minster to Bridlington Priory in Yorkshire and raised £100. These funds will now go towards our projects bringing clean water close to people’s homes in some of the poorest and driest areas of the world.  Poppy (second from right) on her pilgrimage from York Minster to Bridlington Priory

"Fundraising for Sand Dams Worldwide [formerly Excellent Development] is a no-brainer!"

Poppy first became a supporter for Sand Dams Worldwide after donating to our Telegraph Christmas Appeal in 2009. Curious to learn more about sand dams, she decided to join one of our sand dam expeditions in 2011, working with a community in rural southeast Kenya to build a sand dam.

Since then Poppy has been an ardent supporter of Sand Dams Worldwide. She has held talks about our work and sand dams to Rotary clubs and various community groups in her local area.

A big thank you to Poppy for all her hard work and commitment!
